Helen Rosenthal Falloon
FALLOON: Helen Rosenthal Falloon, 78, of Pittsburgh, died on Aug. 22, 2026. Born Sept. 24, 1947, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Helen was the daughter of Dorothy Girard and Bernard Rosenthal. Helen believed deeply in education and devoted much of her life to it. She earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Education from Westminster College, pursued doctoral studies at the University of Maryland and later earned certification in special education from La Roche College. During her career as an educator, Helen taught at nearly every level, from elementary school through college, and spent much of her later career in special education. She cared deeply about her students and was a determined advocate for young people who needed encouragement and support. Helen served on the board of Airway Industries, the family company co-founded by her grandfather and known for its Atlantic luggage brand and distinctive seahorse logo. Her community involvement included volunteering at a Pittsburgh hospital. Intelligent, inquisitive and strong-willed, Helen encouraged others to pursue their interests and find their own paths. A talented photographer, she also loved books, movies, music, horses and dogs. She treasured her longtime friendships, appreciated good food, and knew how to make things fun. Helen’s influence lives on through her family, friends, and the many students whose lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing.
