Gerald Norman Chotiner
CHOTINER: Gerald Norman Chotiner, born July, 1929, passed away Sept. 23, 2026, at the age of 97. He grew up in Squirrel Hill. He was the son of Morris and Malvina and brother to the late Stanley (Audrey) and Shirley (Stanley Barish). He is survived by his sister-in-law Elaine Newman and many nieces and nephews. Jerry graduated from Allderdice High School where he was the star basketball player. He attended Carnegie Mellon University for architecture. Jerry served in the Korean War. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh and became a CPA. He worked for Grodin, Chotiner and Balmuth. His marriage to Barbara (Shulman) has lasted 67 years. They have two daughters, Eileen (Steve Majors) and Shari Khalil (Darryl), and a grandson, Jakob. Jerry was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh football and baseball teams. Barbara and Jerry were regular attendees at the Broadway plays and Pittsburgh Symphony. They enjoyed winters in Florida for 25 years. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed gardening, reading and home repairs. Services at Temple Emanuel of South Hills, 1250 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243, on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Interment Mt.
