Chronicle poll results: Midterm elections

We asked our readers if they think either the U.S. Senate or House will flip to a Democratic majority as a result of the midterms. Here's what they said.

Last week, the Chronicle asked its readers in an online poll the following question: “Do you think either the U.S. Senate or House will flip to a Democratic majority as a result of the midterms?” Of the 204 people who responded, 53% said, “Yes, both the Senate and the House”; 27% said, “Yes, just the House”; 5% said, “Yes, just the Senate”; and 15% said, “Neither.” Comments were submitted by 69 people. A few follow.

Either way, we’ll have problems as Jews. After a lifetime of being a Democrat, I feel politically homeless and am seriously considering leaving the Democratic Party. There’s been too much tolerance of hate.

Thank God, the House will be under Democratic control come January. The Senate is too close to call, but the small Republican margin is highly like to shrink. Finally, the president will not have a blank check to do whatever he wishes to bring misery to our country and others. He will face investigations for some of the vast impropriety that he has perpetrated

They will both flip unless the Republicans find a way to rig the election.

Regardless of the outcome, as my dad would say: “A pox on both their houses!”

Is there another option that precludes any more hate-filled MAGA or extreme Democratic Socialists from getting elected?

Let’s hope for both … so we can put the brakes on this corrupt administration.

They’ll both flip and Trump will say it’s fake and get the DOJ involved.

I would like to see both of them flip. However, living in a country in which over 70 million people voted for a convicted felon in 2024 leaves me very with very limited hope.

Hope springs eternal.

The public wants to change course, with grave concerns about Trump’s policies, regarding undermining democracy, data centers, the economy, the war in Iran, corruption in the Trump administration, benefits for billionaires, his support for Putin rather than Zelensky, and reduced healthcare benefits for citizens.

The Democrats have given Independents a ticket to abstain. The far left has no better answers to the Trump problem than the far right. Neither look to a democracy. Unfortunately them that have the gold make the rules. Currently Trump has kept his appointees’ pockets filled. They’ll get the votes whatever it takes.

Don’t believe the polls! Just get out and vote. Vote with your heart and Jewish commitment. PJC
