Freda C. Alber

ALBER: On Thursday, January 20, 2011, Freda C.; age 99, of Pittsburgh. Daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Sachs) Cazen, born May 18, 1911. Attended Fifth Avenue High School and graduated from Carnegie Tech (now CMU) in 1931. In 1941, married Elliot Alber who preceded her in death in 1983. A well-known actress who was seen in a number of community theater productions, Freda appeared on stage at The Pittsburgh Playhouse, The “Y:” Playhouse, and elsewhere between 1935 and 1990. A life-long volunteer and member of many Jewish organizations, she is survived by a son, Stephen A. Alber (husband of Joanne Tyzenhouse) of Pittsburgh, and by nieces and nephews. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery.
