Dr. Harry C. (Chuck) Morgan

MORGAN: Dr. Harry C. (Chuck) Morgan; Age 87, on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Beloved husband of Estelle Morgan, loving father of daughters Lisa and Kim Morgan, grandfather of Adam and Daphne Rickards, father-in-law of Joseph Rickards, brother-in-law of Shlomo Maital.  Known to all as Chuck, he first served the people of Braddock as an optometrist, later moving to Gateway Center; his eye exams were long, thorough and meticulous, and many enjoyed good vision as a result.   Chuck was a highly creative inventor; he helped improve vision of Pittsburgh Pirates players in the 1960s for his friend Branch Rickey Jr.  He invented night driving lenses, sold to a leading company. Later, he pioneered anti-bacterial contact lenses with a patented process.  He and his wife Estelle founded Biosafe Inc., which developed a patented process for bonding anti-bacterial compound permanently into plastic.   Chuck had a wonderful sense of humor and continually made those around him smile and laugh.  He retained his sense of humor to his last hours.  He passed away quietly in the Family Hospice at Canterbury Place, with his loved ones at his side.  Funeral service was at Beth Shalom Cemetery, Friday, June 14. Arrangements trusted to D’Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., Lawrenceville.
