Father of Rep. Dan Frankel dies at Charles Morris
Death deemed 'accidental'
Robert M. Frankel, the father of State Rep. Dan Frankel, died on Sept. 17 at the Charles Morris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Squirrel Hill as a result of accidental asphyxiation, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
Frankel was 89.
A longtime Squirrel Hill resident and patron of the arts, Frankel’s asphyxiation was caused by “compression of the neck” in an accidental manner, according to the medical examiner.
“To the best of my knowledge, there is no investigation by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police,” into the death of Frankel, said Sonya Toler, public information officer at the City of Pittsburgh’s Public Safety Department.
Funeral services were held at Rodef Shalom Congregation.
