Rep. Summer Lee was one of 37 House Democrats joining 21 Republicans to vote against $14 billion in additional funding to Israel. The bill passed by a vote of 366-58 on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, Lee joined 12 other Democrats and Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky to vote against a resolution condemning the Iranian attack on Israel and expressing support for Israel’s defense.

The resolution, which the House overwhelmingly passed on Thursday, condemns Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel and reaffirms the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security. The resolution further “commends the U.S. military, the United Kingdom, France, and Jordan for intercepting Iranian missiles and drones” and “urges full enforcement of U.S. sanctions and export controls against Iran.”

The resolution was led by Reps. Tom Kean of New Jersey and Jared Moskowitz of Florida.

The other Democrats who voted against the resolution were: Jamaal Bowman of New York; Cori Bush of Missouri; Greg Casar of Texas; Jonathan Jackson of Illinois; Pramila Jayapal of Washington; Hank Johnson of Georgia; Barbara Lee of California; Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York; Ilhan Omar of Minnesota; Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts; Delia Ramirez of Illinois; and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

Many of the representatives who voted against the resolution also opposed several other bipartisan measures regarding Iran this week.

Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania tweeted in response to the 14 congressmen who rejected the resolution: “I sincerely thought I’d never witness members of my party refuse to condemn Iran — one of the world’s leading terrorism sponsors — after launching hundreds of drones against our special ally, Israel. No words.” PJC
