More than 500 people welcomed the Days of Awe Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Third Annual Apples and Honey Fall Festival in Schenley Park.

Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and its divisions, Shalom Pittsburgh and the Young Adult Division, sponsored the festival, which celebrates the coming of Rosh Hashana.

Festival goers enjoyed activities such as apple sack races, beeswax candle making, honey tasting and a variety of crafts, including — appropriately enough — shofar-making for kids.

The festival drew Jews of all streams of Judaism from across the city and suburbs, and several Jewish congregations and agencies manned booths.

Rosh Hashana starts sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and lasts through Friday, Sept. 6.
