Rep. Summer Lee, who represents Squirrel Hill, was one of only 44 House members to vote against a resolution Tuesday condemning the popular pro-Palestinian chant “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” as antisemitic.

The motion passed by a vote of 377 to 44. Forty-three of the “no” votes were cast by Democratic representatives. The sole Republican to vote “no” was cast by Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who frequently opposes measures that support Israel and condemn antisemitism.

The resolution further states that the slogan is a “rallying cry” that “can promote violence against the State of Israel and the Jewish community globally,” and “is used by the same people who utter ‘death to America’ and ‘death to Israel.'”

Lee also was one of only 13 representatives to vote “no” on the “Iran Sanctions Accountability Act,” which requires the administration to issue regulations to ensure that humanitarian exemptions to Iran sanctions are not used to facilitate support for acts of international terrorism or the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The resolution passed 408-13

“The bill would extend U.S. sanctions on Palestinian terrorist groups using human shields,” Jewish Insider reported. PJC
