Squirrel Hill history

A belated praise for Eric Lidji’s fascinating article on the history of the three congregations housed in the Tree of Life building (Oct. 30, 2019). He masterfully constructed their histories, going beyond the facts, until he encapsulated their ethos. As someone who has made Squirrel Hill home for myself and my family, it gave me a rich appreciation for what has preceded me — and truly, the best way to honor the diversity of the present is by knowing the past.

Thank you for giving me even more reasons to love this neighborhood and its many facets of Jewish life.
