Sidney Somers
SOMERS: Sidney Somers. At 92, Sidney Somers passed away peacefully at home on June 29, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and loving caregivers. A proud lifelong Pittsburgher, Sid was the son of Louis and Leah Somers and was preceded in death by his wives, Lois Epstein Somers and Deborah Brog Somers. He is survived by his children, Keith (Debbie), Shelly (Daniel), Paula (Doug) and Beth (Ron); 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his longtime companion, Judy Palkovitz, and her family. Sid’s greatest joys were his family and his pharmacy. For more than 30 years, he owned and operated Golden Mile Pharmacy in Monroeville, where he cared for generations of families with compassion and kindness. He took great pride in mentoring young people, helping launch countless careers, including those of several pharmacists. Sid had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. Whether through his unforgettable stories, quick wit, or infectious laugh, he made everyone feel welcome. His warmth, generosity and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Services at Beit Kulanu, 4905 Fifth Avenue (at Morewood), Wednesday July 1, 2026, at 1 p.m. No prior visitation. Interment Homewood Cemetery.
