Ruth Blitz Goldberg

GOLDBERG: Ruth Blitz Goldberg; Born on August 12, 1922 to Sidney and Esther Blitz of Pittsburgh, passed peacefully at her Miami home surrounded by her family on January 13, 2015, at the age of 92. Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Ellen Giamportone of Los Angeles, Calif., Roni (Kenneth) Peterson of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Barbara Seinfeld of Durham, N.C. Sister of the late Harriet Blitz Weissburg. Devoted grandmother of Amanda (Andrew) Smith, Aaron (Brooke) Peterson, Everett (Jamie) Peterson and Kristin Peterson. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Aunt of Alan Weissburg and Roberta Weissburg (Richard Fox). She was an avid tennis player well into her 80s and had a tennis family for whom she cared deeply. She enjoyed playing golf and was an enthusiastic Miami Dolphin football fan. In the 1960s she owned and operated a popular women’s clothing boutique called “Aunt Ruth’s”. After Hurricane Andrew, she became a Red Cross volunteer helping victims with kind words and encouragement.  Ruth enjoyed traveling and cruising the Miami waters and the Bahamas on the “Queen Bee.”  Ruth was also an artist, creating award-winning collages and one of a kind greeting cards. Her sense of humor and storytelling brought joy to all who knew her.  She will be missed. Graveside services and interment were held at Beth Shalom Cemetery.
