Norman Rosenberg

ROSENBERG: Norman Rosenberg, age 89 of Monroeville, formerly of White Oak and Miami, FL died August 8, 2013.  He was born in Pittsburgh on March 11, 1924 and was the son of the late Harry and Mary Bloom Rosenberg. He worked at Darling’s Market in Glassport and retired from the Business Education Department as a teacher at South Allegheny High School after 17 1/2 years of service.  He received his Master’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the army in the European Theatre of WW II and earned a Purple Heart as well as six Battle Stars.  He served with the 3rd Infantry Division and 6th Armor Division under General Patton.  He was a life member of the Jewish War Veterans Post #778 of Miami, the American Legion Post #443 of Glassport, a past president of the Glassport Rotary Club, and a Hadassah Associate. He is survived by his wife; Betty S. Darling Rosenberg, children; Susan R. (Richard) Linzer of Monroeville, Richard Rosenberg of Swissvale, Charles K. Rosenberg of Harrison City, grandchildren; Ross (Lindsey) Linzer, Rabbi Maura (Liad Itzhaky) Linzer, Andrew Rosenberg and great-grandchild, Sarah Itzhaky. Friends were received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski Supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Sunday.  Burial followed at Temple Cemetery.
