Melvin W. Steinberg
Melvin W. Steinberg, 85, formerly of New Kensington, died Sunday, August 28, 2011, in Boynton Beach, Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Harriet M. Steinberg, his three devoted children, Alan (Lynne) of West Orange, New Jersey, Barbara (Rick) Hartman of Inverness, Illinois, and Michael Steinberg of Johnstown, Pa., and his three beloved grandchildren Neil Steinberg of New York, New York, Hailey Hartman of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Michael Hartman of Champaign, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his brother Alter Steinberg and sister Sylka Singer. Melvin served in World War II in the Army Air Force prior to graduating from the University of Pittsburgh. He spent his career in the men’s apparel business, both in the wholesale and retail sectors. He also served for many years as the High Holiday cantor at Beth Jacob Synagogue.
