John A. Stern

STERN: On Monday June 18, 2012, John A. Stern, 88 of Mt. Lebanon; beloved husband of Diana (DZ) Stern; treasured father of Belinda (Steve Schickler) Stern, Robert (Lynn Dixon) Stern, and Susan Stern; the late Frieda and Herman Stern; loving grandfather of Kyle and Graham Schickler. John was born in 1923, in Frankfurt, Germany; he arrived in America at the age of 10 and settled in Pittsburgh with his parents. John was an Army Veteran of World War II; he fought on Omaha Beach on D-Day, among other campaigns, receiving three Bronze Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead. John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh following his discharge from the Army. John was a well-respected financial advisor. He had a wicked sense of humor, and an indomitable spirit that his children and grandchildren greatly admired. He was a true hero. Services were held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
