Jacques "Jack" Brourman

BROURMAN: Jacques “Jack” Brourman, age 84, of Pittsburgh, passed on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. Beloved father of Ronn, Paul (Katie) and Jeff (Brooke); grandfather of Jamie, Zoe, Brynn, Miles and Emily; son of the late Rose and Maier Brourman. Survived by brother Harold (Phyllis) Brourman, sister in-law Judy Brourman, brother in-law David Dinkin, and beloved girlfriend Molla Zimmerman. Predeceased by former wife of 29 years, Audrey Brourman, siblings Sam (Leah) Brourman, Phillip (Elsie) Brourman, Della Fisher (Charlie), Sadie (Edwin) Blum, Saul (Helen Ruth) Brourman, LeeAnn Wolfson (Sam), Ida Freidman (Si), Irving (Bernice) Brourman and Betty Dinkin. Jacques attended college and played quarterback at Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon) University.  He continued postgraduate studies of music at the Juilliard School in New York City. He became an accomplished symphony conductor and through his career directed the Boise Philharmonic, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the New Orleans Philharmonic. He was also the founder and conductor of the Sun Valley Music Camp in Sun Valley, Idaho, and the Bedford Springs Music Festival in Bedford, Pa. An artist with the baton, Jacques gave the extraordinary gift of music to so many. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Homewood Cemetery.
