Harold Wintner

WINTNER: Harold Wintner, age 94, of Fox Chapel, formerly of Duquesne and McKeesport, died Aug. 21, 2014. He was born in Duquesne on Jan. 11, 1920 and is the son of the late Paul and Lena Lichtig Wintner. He was a certified public accountant for 62 years until the age of 88. He served the city of McKeesport beginning in 1949 and was McKeesport’s first practicing CPA. In 1992, he merged his practice with Trosch & Co. LLP in Pittsburgh. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in the 1940s with a degree in commercial education and then joined the U.S. Army serving in World War ll. He was a 50-year honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was the husband for 63 years of the late Gladys Silberman Wintner who died Feb. 26, 2006. He is survived by his children, Jack (Bridget) Wintner of South Fayette Township, Morton (Lisa) Wintner of Mt. Lebanon and Nancy Wintner of Shadyside and granddaughter, Amy Wintner. He was preceded in death by siblings Eleanor Wintner Backer and Marvin Wintner. Friends were received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services. Services were officiated by Rabbi Paul Tuchman and burial is in Tree of Life Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Temple B’nai Israel, 2025 Cypress Drive, White Oak, PA 15131.
