WILLIAMS: Evelyn L Williams, age 84, a 19-year resident of Henderson, Nev., died Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Evelyn was born October 26, 1931 in Pittsburgh, where she spent her youth. She married the love of her life, Phillip Williams, in 1956 and they lived in Rego Park, N.Y., until 1997 when they retired to Nevada. In May of 1972 they established The Uptown Gallery on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. They ran the business together, heart and soul, until 1995. Evelyn’s kind and caring presence and generous spirit warmed the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was known for her infectious laugh, friendly nature, and a smile that lit up the room. She loved to travel and her greatest joy was her family. Evelyn was a nurturing mother, loving Grammy and devoted sister and wife. Evelyn is survived by her husband Philip Williams; children Steven Williams (Melissa) of Woodbury N.Y.; Bonnie Williams (Marcel Peereboom Voller) of Amsterdam, Holland; and Susan Williams (Nancy Orcutt) of San Francisco; grandchildren Kristie and Michael Williams, Cody Peereboom Voller and Shanna and Jenna Parkerson Williams; sister Marion Kessler of Pittsburgh; niece Helene Kessler Burke (Thomas) of Pittsburgh; nephew Stuart Kessler (Susan) of Hillsborough N.J.; and niece Suzanne Levinson; she is predeceased by sister Norma Levinson (Burt) and brother-in-law Bernard Kessler. A funeral was held on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nev. Contributions in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Jewish National Fund, jnf.org.
