Ethel Comay
COMAY: Ethel Comay, age 97; On Tuesday, December 31, 2013, after a brief illness. Her beloved husband Amos and son Sholom both predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Deborah and daughter-in-law Estelle, her grandchildren Laura Comay and husband Arthur Burris of Washington, D.C., and Joseph Comay of Boulder, CO, and her great-grandchildren Andrew and Matthew Burris. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Solwitz, her brother-in-law Myron Solwitz, sisters-in-law Natalie Berez and Ann Comay, many nieces and nephews as well as devoted caregivers. Her siblings Bertha Malamude, Betty Berez, Leatrice Buchwach, Ernest Berez, and Frances Klotz predeceased her. Ethel was graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology, Phi Beta Kappa. She was active for most of her life in philanthropic organizations, particularly Na’amat, and was a lifelong member of Beth Shalom Congregation. She and her husband were dedicated to Jewish and Zionist causes locally, nationally, and internationally, and lived in Tel Aviv part of each year for many years. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery.
