MINES: DR. SAMUEL CHARLES, Age 75, of Mt. Lebanon, complications from pneumonia on Friday, April 8, 2011. Beloved husband of Nessa (Green); loving father of Stacie (Stanley) Joseph and Jonathan Mines; dear grandfather of Matthew and Andrew Joseph; son of Rose and Louis Mines. Sam was born in Nashville, TN, grew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA and moved to Pittsburgh to attend University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and graduated 1963. He served his internship and residency at Montefiore Hospital. Sam opened his first office on Washington Road (Mt. Lebanon) in 1968 and later moved it to St. Clair Memorial Hospital Professional Building. He was on staff at Mercy and joined the staff of St. Clair in 1969 where he was Chief of the Allergy Department until he retired.In the 1970s, Sam volunteered to set up an allergy clinic at Western Pennsylvania Hospital. He also was on staff there and at the following hospitals: Veteran’s Administration, Washington, Canonsburg and Central Medical. Sam also maintained an office in Washington, PA and later moved to it McMurray. St. Clair Memorial Hospital was his home away from home. He loved practicing medicine and his patients. In turn, he was loved by his patients. Private interment at West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom, Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Monday at Temple Emanuel, led by Rabbi Mark Mahler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Emanuel, 1250 Bower Hill Rd, PGH, PA 15243-1380 or St. Clair Hospital Foundation, 1000 Bower Hill Rd, PGH, PA 15243.
