Celebrating success
BBYO Keystone Mountain Region (KMR) engages over 400 teens annually, and during the 2012-2013 programming year, BBYO KMR saw many of its members elected to chapter, regional and international boards.
Emily Gorby of Fox Chapel is just one of the region’s teen leaders. Not only has Emily been an active member and officer of her chapter, Chana Leah BBG, but she was also aym-chaverot (vice president of membership) for the B’nai B’rith Girls on BBYO, Inc’s. international board.
“BBYO gives thousands of teens the skill set and confidence required to succeed. My love for BBYO began in November of my eighth-grade year at a regional Shabbat. Four and a half years later, I have had various leadership positions, discovered my Jewish identity, traveled to four countries and built life-long friendships with teens from 41 states. BBYO has truly transformed my life for the better, and I cannot wait to see the influence it will have on many lives in the future,” said Gorby.
To celebrate Emily’s and KMR’s successes, a reception is being held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the home of Robert Gorby and Barbara Weizenbaum. Light refreshments will be served as participants hear some of Emily’s anecdotes from her year as a member of the I-Board.
The reception is open to the public. Contact Chuck Marcus, senior program director at 412-421-2626 or via email at cmarcus@bbyo.org to RSVP by June 7.
