Betty Barlow
BARLOW: Betty Barlow passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, on April 13, 1935, to immigrant parents, Theodore and Ethel (Lefkowitz) Braslawsce, Betty was the third of their six children. She was artistic, creative, a fantastic cook and baker who had a passion for gardening. She was one of the founding family members of Congregation Dor Hadash in Pittsburgh in 1963. Betty outlived her five siblings, Hilda Landis, Harry Barlow, Zelda Braslawsce, Paul Braslawsce and Joe Braslawsce, z”l. She is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Alan Balsam, her three children, Jeffrey Podolsky, Rabbi Cheryl Klein and Michelle Landerman, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral took place at the Homewood Cemetery (Star of David/Dor Hadash Section) on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Dor Hadash in Pittsburgh or a charity of one’s choice. PJC
