Arthur J. Berger
BERGER: Arthur J Berger, Pittsburgh, PA and formerly of Aliquippa, PA. A hero passed away on Thursday, 11-21-2013 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Monroeville, PA. Arthur was a member of the 453rd Bomb Group based in East Anglia, England during World War II at Old Buckenham Air Base. This group flew many missions over France and Germany during the Battle of Normandy in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, including an Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh – School of Pharmacy, Class of 1950 and was a pharmacist at SUN Drug in New Castle and Slaton’s Pharmacy in McKeesport, and an active member of the Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by brother Robert and Joan M. Berger of Pittsburgh, and Joan L. and the late James M. Berger of White Oak. He is also survived by nephews Joel R Berger, David L Berger (Meredith), Jordyn Avery Berger and Noah Berger of Ambler, PA , Janice (Lee) Feinberg, Suzie (David) Roth, and great nieces/nephews: Julie Roth, Andrew Roth, Jessica Feinberg, and Michael Feinberg. Arrangements were entrusted to Rabbi Wasserman of the Chevrah Kadisha Jewish Burial Society of Pittsburgh. Internment was at Gemilas Chesed’s Elrod Cemetery in Versailles Borough. He attended B’nai Emunoh Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, Jewish War Veterans, or Chevrah Kadisha Jewish Burial Society of Pittsburgh c/o Shaare Torah Congregation.
