ISRAEL: Ruth (Gottesman) Israel; Age 87, of Pittsburgh, died peacefully on January 7, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Luddy Israel; loving mother to Dr. David (Barbara) Israel, Steven (Barbara) Israel, Kenneth (Barbara) Israel, and James (Vicki) Israel; adoring grandmother to eight grandchildren, Cary, Jamie, Nathan, Sarah, Alex, Rena, Andrew and Jonathan and great-grandmother to William and Lily. She was a loving sister to the late Rose Barish, the late Florence Laub and Lucille Gerson; also beloved sister-in-law to Mickey Lawrence and Ruth Steinberg. Ruth Israel was a whiz at Scrabble, great conversationalist, enjoyed music performed by her sons, and was devoted to her family and friends. A private family memorial and burial was held in Phoenix, Arizona. There will be no service in Pittsburgh. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
