Nathaniel Paul Apter
APTER: Nathaniel Paul Apter, age 96, of Sewall’s Point, Fla., and formerly of McKeesport, passed away at home on Thursday Feb. 5, 2015. He was born on February 12, 1918 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Joseph and Esther Rashevsky Apter. Mr. Apter was a longtime McKeesport businessman and a supporter of many humanitarian causes. He was a former member of the McKeesport Parking Authority, the Rotary Club, served many years as a member of the Carnegie Library board and was a past board member of the McKeesport Symphony Society. Mr. Apter was a lifetime member of Temple B’nai Israel Congregation. He was an avid and excellent golfer and was a longtime member of Westmoreland Country Club and the Evergreen Club in Florida. After moving to Florida he served for many years on the Cummings Library Board. Mr. Apter is survived by his wife of 74 years, Miriam Scott Apter, children, Elizabeth (Alan) Finegold with whom he resided and J. Scott (Ruth) Apter of White Oak; grandchildren Amanda Finegold, Emily (Gavin) Fine, Molly (Angelo) Georgakis, Lauren Apter (Christopher) Bairnsfather and Katherine (Ron) Rutherford; and great-grandchildren Hannah Finegold, Sophie Fine, Charles and Samuel Rutherford who loved their Boppa and spent as much time as possible with him. Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 until time of service at 2 p.m. at the Jennifer S. Jordan Funeral Home, Inc., White Oak with Rabbi Paul Tuchman officiating.
