Marshall Cherner

CHERNER: On Monday, April 20, 2026, Marshall Cherner passed away at home surrounded by his family. Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Lynn, of 34 years and three beloved children, Alexis (Carlos), Laura (Mollie) and Marshall. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Esther Cherner, and his siblings Natalie and Bruce. Marshall taught advanced mathematics in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for 31 years, was a department chair and an advocate for giving students the best education possible, evidenced by the many students who kept in touch after graduation. He also taught for a short time at Mt. Lebanon High School and CCAC. He was himself a lifelong learner, an avid follower of politics and a news junkie. He was the heart of his family and leaves them with countless wonderful memories of time spent on vacations and just being together. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his wife and children. He had the most wonderful sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Services will remain private. The family will be sitting shiva at their home on Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 169 Mohawk Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15228. Please make all memorial contributions to either the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
