ELOVITZ: Mark Harvey Elovitz, PhD, JD, rabbi, passed away on Nov. 17, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 20, 1938, to Lilian Werner Elovitz (z’l) and Meyer David Elovitz (z’l). Dr. Elovitz spent the last 55 years in Birmingham, where he raised his family. He was a USAF veteran, an educator, theologian, litigator and geopolitical expert who, along with his wife, Martha, traveled the world, when he wasn’t playing tennis or tending to his garden. Dr. Elovitz is survived by his wife, Martha; his brothers, Albert, Stuart and Shelley Elovitz; his children, Rachel Aliza Elovitz (Alex/Sasha), Michal Aviva Elovitz (Ari) and Reuben Jeremiah Elovitz, as well as his stepchildren: Hugo Marx (Julia), Hallie Webber (Will), Alice Goodsell (Blake) and Nathan (Nat) Marx. Dr. Elovitz is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Benjamin, Justin, and Aaron Elovitz; Maya and Eliana Sherwood; Hannah and Will Webber; Sara and Joseph Goodsell; and Stella, Samuel, and Julian Marx. He loved and was loved deeply. May his memory be for a blessing. PJC
