Teen makes positive difference
Fifteen-year-old California high school student McKay Hatch is a young man who is mature and wise far beyond his years. McKay has founded a burgeoning group called the “No Cussing Club,” which seeks to bring civility back to a world in which it is sorely needed.
I was delighted to learn that McKay and his club will be recognized and lauded this week by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
In a world that is increasingly defined by coarse, crude, vulgar actions, words, media and “entertainment” I, as one who does not use profanity, often feel alone. I reflect upon and attempt to comport with a favorite quote of mine from Hillel, “In a place where no one behaves like a human being, you must strive to be human!”
Three cheers for McKay Hatch! He has his work cut out for him in what has become an ugly world that our ancestors would not recognize.
