Leon Spiegel
SPIEGEL: Leon Spiegel, born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 23, 1921, to the late Samuel and Rose Spiegel, died on March 31, 2015. In his early adult years, Leon worked with his father in the leather goods business and then worked with his mother in operating a bar. Leon worked for several years in furniture sales prior to his retirement. Leon was set up on a blind date by his uncle, who wanted him to meet the woman who would become his wife of 61 years, Myrle Thomashefsky. Myrle and Leon have one daughter, Lynne Spiegel Lehrer. Although he had never visited Israel, Leon was always a supporter of Israel and Jewish causes. Leon will be sadly missed by his wife and daughter. He is survived by his brother Arthur (Leslie) and is predeceased by his sister Bertha Krasnow (Ben) and his brother Seymour (Arlene). Graveside services were held at the Temple Sinai Memorial Park in Plum on Thursday, April 2. Professional Services by D’Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Weinberg Village, 300 JHF Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
