Leibowicz out of medal round
Emma Leibowicz of Squirrel Hill lost her quarter final round in singles tennis Monday at the 18th World Maccabiah Games in Jerusalem.
Leibowicz lost in straight sets to Yael Beckman of the Israel 6-3, 6-2.
Of the four American women competing in women’s singles tennis in the open division, only Emily Wolf will advance to the semi-finals after defeating her teammate, Logan Hansen, 6-4, 6-4
In the junior division, Carly Small of Mt. Lebanon lost in round three on July 15 defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Cagla Lusi Azgari of Turkey, but she rebounded in the fourth round of the bronze medal competition to defeat Emma Kate Anna Gibbor of Great Britain 6-2, 6-2.
