Howard Snider
SNIDER: Howard S.; 65, of Monroeville, on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, Beloved husband of 43 years of Dr. Sue (Shlakman) Snider, devoted father of Bill (Amy) Snider, Mindy (fiancé John DeRiggi) Snider, and DeAnn (Nick) Baxter; son of the late Dan and Mildred (Touber) Snider; brother of Myron (Eileen) Snider, Edwin (Henya) Snider, and Sharon Snider; grandfather of Joshua and Jonah Snider; also survived by nieces and nephews. At 19, Howard owned his own grocery store on Semple Street in Oakland, which he operated for five years. At 24, he opened his own pizza shop and operated it for one year. He worked for Weinstein’s in Squirrel Hill for many years. While working for Sears in 1974, he was transferred to Presque Isle, Maine and then to Lewiston, Maine before returning to Pittsburgh in 1978. He then spent 32 years as a top furniture salesman for both Wickes Furniture (20 years) and Levin Furniture (12 years). On his days off from selling, he worked in Monroeville as a short-order cook for Brown Derby (1 year), Denney’s (5 years), and Red Lobster (15 years). Always a loving and caring person, Howard will be greatly missed by family, friends, and anybody who ever met him. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery.
