BERKMAN: Harry Berkman, beloved husband of Frances S. Berkman for 62 years; loving father of Arlene (Gabe) Reitter and David Berkman; brother of Reva (Lee) Neiman and the late William (Jan) Berkman; also survived by nieces, nephews, and his three grand-dogs, Lucy, Noah, and Abe, whom he adored. Harry was an avid fisherman who loved sharing his passion with others. He took friends and family on many fishing trips, some of which included traveling to Lake Erie and Alaska. Harry spent his career as a lead airline mechanic for U.S. Airways. Devout in his beliefs, Harry’s heritage was very important to him. He was a long-standing member of Beth El Congregation, serving as a lay leader at times. Harry loved his family, and one of the ways he expressed his love was by cooking, gardening and growing his own food. His kind and generous heart shone through by sharing his home-grown vegetables with others. He was known as the cook of the family, invited people for dinner, schlepped homemade food to his daughter in Columbus and made all of his dishes from scratch, with care. Services were held at Beth El Congregation. Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Beth El Section. Contributions in Harry’s memory may be made to Beth El Congregation, 1900 Cochran Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
