OTTENHEIMER: Fritz Ottenheimer of Pittsburgh, on Thursday July 20, 2017. Beloved husband of Goldie Beruh Ottenheimer of Pittsburgh. Loving father of Dan Ottenheimer and his wife Sara Weber of Massachusetts; and Marcie Miller and her husband Jim Miller of Virginia. Loving grandfather of Sarah, Claire and Elise Gebauer and David Ottenheimer. And loving “Uncle Fritz” to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and other extended family members. Born in Konstanz, Germany, Fritz came to the U.S. as a teen. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he received an industrial engineering degree and moved to Pittsburgh, becoming an engineer for Westinghouse. Fritz devoted much of his free time to charitable causes, beginning with the Boy Scouts of America and with tutoring; and after retirement with the Rehabilitation
Institute, the Pace School, Temple Sinai and the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh. Fritz spoke at dozens of schools and organizations in the greater Pittsburgh area about the Holocaust and his personal experiences as a Jew in Nazi Germany. He touched the lives of thousands of people, and will be sorely missed by many. Services were held at Temple Sinai. Interment Temple Sinai Memorial Park.
