David W. Pettler
PETTLER: David W. Pettler passed away at the age of 97 in his home in Naples, Florida, on March 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the son of the late I.W. and Eleanor (Wolk) Pettler. He resided in Beaver Falls, Sewickley and Naples. David was dearly loved and known widely to be honest, loving and kind to all living things. David graduated from Beaver Falls High School and the University of Pittsburgh before joining the family business, P. Pettler Company, broker and processor of industrial steel scrap. The company was founded in 1886 by his grandfather, Peter Pettler, and closed upon David’s retirement in 2003. Community service was important to David. He was a district governor of the Pennsylvania Jaycees, member and president of the Beaver Falls Rotary Club, board member and legislative chairman of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel, and was associated with numerous civic and industrial associations in Beaver County. He was a member of the Naples Jewish Congregation and previously served on the board of directors at Beth Samuel Jewish Center in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. David was preceded in death by his adored wife, Marti, his son Ted (Corinna), and his sister Joan. He leaves behind his sons Steven and Jim (Sasha), grandchildren Josh (Carrie), Levi (Angela), EvanTillie and Jesse, and two great-grandchildren, Juniper and Shoshanna. A celebration of his life was held at his home in Florida. David rests alongside his beloved wife, Marti, in Agudath Achim cemetery, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. PJC
