Center for Women offers workshops
The Center for Women, a collaborative initiative of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) and Jewish Women’s Foundation of Greater Pittsburgh (JWF), will hold workshops at their office, located at 1620 Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill.
Women of all ages throughout the community, including female heads of households, women in need, women who are newly divorced, separated or widowed or who have experienced job loss and have a desire to re-enter the job market, are encouraged to attend. Registration is required for all workshops and no one will be turned away if unable to pay the suggested donation.
The Return to the Workforce Workshops suggested donation is $10 and are led by professionals of the Career Development Center of Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh.
Interviewing 101 will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, with Joe D’Anna, career consultant at the CDC. Learn interviewing techniques, how to negotiate offers, and how to transition into a new position. Helpful checklists and tips are provided.
Magnetic Resumes will be held Monday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Betty Berkely, career consultant at the CDC will instruct on resume formats, styles and techniques to ensure resumes are visually appealing and appropriately targeted for the intended audience. Sample resumes are provided.
Workshops made possible through Law: Legal Assistance for Women also have a suggested donation of $10.
Monday, Aug. 19, at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the workshops will provide participants with a confidential consultation with a professional to determine how best to approach a financial or legal concern. Appointments must be scheduled in advance. Legal consultations on divorce, separation, support, custody, alimony and equitable property division will be available.
