PENNOCK: Bernard Eugene Pennock, PhD, age 76, of Hilton Head, SC passed away on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Philadelphia on January 30, 1938 and was raised in a household with his parents Eva and David Pennock, and his sisters Marjorie and Penny. “Bernie” graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.  He then completed his Doctorate Degree in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Pennsylvania.  In December of 1969, he married Kathleen Harris, MD. Dr. Pennock’s career included teaching as a Professor of Pulmonary Medicine at The University of Oklahoma and The University of Pittsburgh.  He also worked in the Pulmonary department at Allegheny General Hospital.  During his career, he published numerous research articles, and also held patents on several respiratory devices. Following retirement, Kathy and Bernie moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina.  Bernie discovered his artistic side; making beautiful stained glass windows and other “creations.” In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, he is survived his two sons, Maurice Pennock and his wife Amy, and David Pennock and his wife Lauren, one daughter, Jennifer Holst and her husband Seth and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Samuel Pennock, Eli and Jonah Holst and Ashley and Sarah Pennock.  He is also survived by one sister; Barbara “Penny” Weinerman and her husband Leonard “Len” his sister-in-law, Marie Bernstein and several nieces and nephews.  Bernie was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Heitzer and also her husband, Donald Heitzer.
