Jonathan P. Young

Jonathan P. Young

YOUNG: Jonathan P. Young, 61, of Pittsburgh, passed away suddenly on Aug. 5, 2026. Jonathan was born June 2, 1965. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (Altman) Young and father to Janna Young and Zeva Graf (Jason). Jonathan will be missed greatly by his parents, Judith and Fred Young, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, formerly from Pittsburgh. He was the adored big brother to Aimee Blum (Eric) and Richard (Michelle). He leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will miss his warm conversation, stories, silly jokes and infectious smile. Jonathan was an attorney, earning an undergraduate degree from Temple University and his JD from the University of Pittsburgh. Jonathan was passionate about supporting others both professionally and in his everyday life. He was known to always give a helping hand to his friends, his community and anyone who needed it, especially those strangers among us who are most often overlooked. Jonathan was a foundational part of the Squirrel Hill Jewish community. He served, for many years, as the president of Congregation Shaare Torah. As the community can attest, countless holidays were spent at the Young home enjoying homemade meals, conversations on the porch, smoking cigars and enjoying a l’chaim or two. Jonathan was a man of many interests and passions, including learning of all types, reading, cooking, and any team wearing black and gold. Of course, his wife, daughters, son-in-law and family remained his No. 1 love. Jonathan will be remembered by all as a person of kindness, humility and deep commitment to his family and community — a true mensch. Donations in Jonathan’s memory can be made to Congregation Shaare Torah (https://www.shaaretorah.net/in-memory.html) and Camp Ramah Canada’s Tikvah Scholarship (campramah.com/support/donate/). PJC
