Chronicle poll results: NFL draft
We asked our readers if they planned to attend the NFL draft. Here's what they said.
Last week, the Chronicle asked its readers in an online poll the following question: “Do you plan to attend any events related to the NFL draft in Pittsburgh?” Of the 239 people who responded, 89% said no and 11% said yes. Comments were submitted by 55 people. A few follow.
Just the opposite; I’ll be steering clear of the craziness!
It’s a great event for Pittsburgh, but I’ll be out of town.
I have never been a big fan of huge crowds, and COVID only exacerbated my dislike of them.
I’m not interested in the draft. I do not know the players. Fans have no say in the choices. Everything will be on TV and I can watch it without all the crowds.
I hope it brings money and people to the city who will come back.
I’m sure that many doctors’ and other appointments were canceled due to the overwhelming traffic anticipated. My advice for people not working? Stay home, turn on the computer and Amazon Music. Then spend the day singing along. Enjoy!
My only plan for this event is to hope that my beloved Pittsburgh shines and conveys a very positive impression to the world about our visit-ability, livability, friendliness and beauty.
Yes, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I’m especially excited to go to the booth run by Chabad and watch them wrap tefillin.
We will watch around when the Steelers make their picks — otherwise it’s like watching paint dry.
I have zero interest in this, but I’m happy that my city is active and alive.
My original plan was not to attend the draft. Then, after thinking about it: It’s free, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event, there is free transportation, there is a lot to see and do … Why not? So, I will attend one of the days.
I will watch TV coverage. As a senior citizen I don’t want to be in the crowds, but am delighted the draft is in Pittsburgh. It should help the local economy.
I don’t understand why this is supposed to be interesting to spectators. It’s not like they’re playing exhibition games. What’s to see? What’s the big deal? Smells like hype that some hope to profit from.
What draft? The weather is warm. At most a breeze. No draft at all here. PJC
