The University of Pittsburgh Jewish Studies Program will commemorate Kristallnacht, (Night of the Broken Glass) with a program, Friday, Nov. 8, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., at the Cathedral of Learning, room 208B.
Pitt students will read testimonies given by survivors of Kristallnacht. Also, Professor Robert Skloot, an expert on theater and the Holocaust at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will lecture on the subject, “Kristallnacht as Early Warning: Signs of Genocide.”
In related events, Pitt is joining with the Holocaust Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh to present a series of events related to Kristallnacht on campus on Nov. 9 and 10, including a staged reading of Skloot’s play about Raphael Lemkin and a day-long conference on “The Cultural Arts of the Holocaust.” Visit the Holocaust Center’s website for more information.
