Perlman, PSO Join together for concert

Israeli violinist Itzhak Perlman will join The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and music director Manfred Honeck for an “Enchanted Evening” concert on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 7:30 p.m., at Heinz Hall.
The program for the evening will include the overture to “Der Freischutz” by Carl Maria von Weber, Symphony No. by Antonin Dvorak, Violin Concerto No. 3 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and “Liebesfraud” by Fritz Kreisler.
The concert will be performed without intermission.
Perlman, 64, who made man appearances with the PSO over the years, was stricken with polio at the age of four, yet he overcame his disability to become one of the world’s most celebrated musicians.
In addition to classical music for which he is best known, Perlman has also played jazz, and klezmer, and has soloed on several movie scores, including Schindler’s List.
