Nancy Libson

LIBSON: Nancy Libson, 79, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully in Pittsburgh on July 27, 2026. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Pittsburgh and nationally engaged civic leaders attorney Sylvan Libson and Margaret Segal Libson, and her brother, Franklin B. (Sally) Libson. She is survived by a brother, Robert (Dori) Libson, nieces and nephew Judy (Brandon) McAuley, Karen (Chris) Morrow, Brittany Libson (Dereje) Girma, and Bradley Sylvan (Marina) Libson, as well as eight grand-nieces and -nephews. A 1964 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Nancy earned a B.A. from Cornell University in 1968 and a master’s in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh (GSPIA). Then followed 50 years of professional success in public policy positions in housing and regional development in Washington, D.C. including at the Appalachian Regional Dev. Commission, HUD, and the U.S. House Subcommittee on Housing and Community Development. She concluded her professional career at Leading Age advocating for affordable service enriched senior housing. Thereafter she volunteered as a reading tutor for first and second grade students in the Stair Annapolis Program and served as Chairperson for The Annapolis Housing and Community Equity Dev. Committee. Nancy cherished family celebrations and vacations, especially trips to Cape Cod as a child with her parents and brothers, and then almost every summer with family and friends. She also loved traveling to St. Maarten with her brother Franklin and his family. She was a “foodie” before it was en vogue and loved to share the fine meals she prepared with everyone. Over her lifetime her family also included four Wheaten terriers, whom she called her “little men” and spoiled shamelessly. A private family burial took place on Aug. 2, 2026, in Pittsburgh. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Beth Shalom, Arnold, Maryland. Donations in her memory can be made to NCJW in Pittsburgh or Annapolis. PJC
