The Rev. Dr. Randall K. Bush will be the guest speaker at Temple Sinai’s Shabbat evening service on Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m. Bush is the senior pastor of East Liberty Presbyterian Church and will be speaking at Temple Sinai as part of the East End Cooperative Ministry’s Pulpit Exchange Program. His guest sermon is entitled “The Rest of Story.” The service will include music by the Temple Sinai Intergenerational Choir with an oneg to follow.

Congregation Emanu-El Israel invites the community to the next program of the Festival of the Jewish Arts on Saturday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at 222 North Main St. in Greensburg.

Cantor Henry Shapiro and the Steel City Klezmorim will perform klezmer music. The term klezmer comes from the Hebrew words klei meaning “vessel” and zemer meaning “song” — meaning “instrument of song.” The music is Jewish folk music that originally developed in Eastern Europe. Klezmer bands frequently entertained at weddings, so the music is often lively and upbeat and encourages dancing.

Refreshments from Zabar’s in New York City will be served during intermission. This program is free and open to the public and is funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.

Chabad of the South Hills in Mt. Lebanon will hold a pre-Shavuot lunch for seniors on Tuesday, June 7 at noon. There will be a demonstration on creating a floral fruit display and Shavuot songs.

Steven D. Bram has announced his plan to retire as executive director of Rodef Shalom Congregation in July. Bram is a certified Fellow in Temple Administration with 31 years of temple administration experience. While this announcement signals the end of Bram’s tenure in synagogue administration, he will draw upon his many years of experience as executive director to pursue the next phase of his career in executive coaching.

In a letter to the congregation, Rodef Shalom president Eric Schaffer outlined the synagogue leadership’s next steps. “We have appointed a task force for the purpose of finding an interim executive director. Members of this task force include trustees and other congregants, and Rabbi Aaron Bisno will work closely with the task force. Steve has kindly offered to help us in our transition, and we know we can count upon our professional and dedicated staff.”
