Whether you’re looking to explore living history, gather with loved ones or watch fireworks blaze through the night sky, Pittsburgh offers plenty of ways to celebrate Independence Day. As the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, organizations across the city are marking the milestone with special events and activities.
America’s 250 Potluck with the Jewish Community Center
Join the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh on July 5 to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an interfaith community potluck! Guests are invited to bring a dish to share while enjoying yard games, a sing-along and family friendly activities.

See the fireworks
The city’s annual Fourth of July celebration will take place at Point State Park, along the North Shore Great Lawn and the Grandview Park Bandstand. Festivities kick off at 4 p.m., featuring main stage performances by pop and indie artists Kahone Concept, Eternal Boy and the Plain White T’s. The night will culminate in a dazzling firework show starting at 9:35 p.m.

Explore living history at the Heinz History Center
The Heinz History Center is commemorating Independence Day with special programs celebrating the nation’s 250-year anniversary. Visitors can experience living history demonstrations, historical reenactments and interactive exhibits that explore Pittsburgh’s role in the country’s founding.
Meadowcroft Independence Day Celebration
Explore American History at Meadowcroft’s 18th-century frontier trading post and 19th-century rural village. The celebration will include historical demonstrations, traditional games and hands-on activities that showcase life during the birth of the nation.

Fourth at the Fort
Fort Pitt Museum’s annual Fourth at the Fort event features Revolutionary war re-enactors, cannon firings, historical demonstrations and a flag raising ceremony. Guests can also explore “Pittsburgh’s Revolution,” a new exhibition examining western Pennsylvania’s role in the American Revolution.

Board the Ferris wheel
Take in breathtaking views of Pittsburgh’s skyline aboard the Piatt Company’s Salute to Service Ferris wheel on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. Half of all ticket proceeds will benefit the Veterans Leadership Program, a nonprofit organization that seeks to support veterans after service.
