Samuel Neuman
NEUMAN: On Sunday, February 3, 2013, Samuel Neuman; Beloved husband of 58 years of Jeanette Rosenberg Neuman. Born August 10, 1916, in Hannatown, (now Braddock Hills) PA to Isadore and Lena (nee Friedman) Neuman. Sam was the last survivor of brothers Lewis, Daniel, Elmer and Joseph and sisters Freda Harris, Sally Newman and Hanna Berkowitz. Sam served in Great Britain during World War II with the Signal Corps and was awarded four medals. He was active with many organizations including having served as President of Western Pennsylvania Council of B’nai B’rith. Sam was a member of Congregation Poale Zedek and of the Swissvale VFW. During the 1970’s and 1980’s Sam was the leader in the establishment of two War Memorials erected in the Borough of Swissvale. Sam has been a well-cared for resident at Weinberg Village since 2000, and was formerly of Swissvale and Swisshelm Park. “Uncle Sam” is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
