The Jewish Community Foundation will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rodef Shalom Congregation. The Foundation will present the Gift of Consequence Award to Meryl Ainsman, executive director of the Philip Chosky Charitable Education Foundation, and celebrate the Israel experiences for teens made possible by the Foundation and Centennial Fund for a Jewish Future.
Wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served; dietary laws will be observed. This is a nonsolicitation event.

Dr. Kathy Humphrey will be honored with the University Partner Award at the 27th anniversary celebration of Chabad House on Campus on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s O’Hara Center Ballroom. Humphrey is the newly appointed senior vice chancellor for engagement and chief of staff at the University of Pittsburgh. Chabad House serves nine Pittsburgh-area universities, providing social, educational and cultural programming for students of all Jewish backgrounds.
Humphrey will be honored for her years of devotion to the well-being and growth of students at the University of Pittsburgh. She has partnered with Chabad House on Campus by hosting one of its Shabbat meals in her home, participating in and supporting programs offered by Chabad House at the University of Pittsburgh and by encouraging kosher food service on Pitt’s campus.

Temple Hadar Israel in New Castle has finalized the sale of its building to I-58 Asset Managers. Although the property at the corner of Logan Street and Moody Avenue has been sold, the congregation will continue to hold religious services and adult education programs there through a lease agreement with the new owner.
Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, the building will be leased to the congregation for one year, and the lease will be renewable each year at the same rent for a three-year period, according to Sam Bernstine, president of the congregation. The new owner plans to provide occupational and physical therapy at the site.
