I. Leonard Greenwald
GREENWALD, ESQUIRE: I. Leonard Greenwald; A well-respected local attorney, born on August 15, 1923, passed away at home in Delray Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Roselie Gottlieb Greenwald, his three daughters- Sheira (formerly Cheryl) (Elihu Davison) Greenwald of Morristown, NJ, Randi (Allen Silver) Greenwald of Jerusalem, Israel, and Devra (Bob) Cohen of Boynton Beach, FL, five grandchildren, Adam and Brian Morgenlander, Racheli and Mishael Silver, and Livia (Noam) Silver Benaiah, and many dear nieces and nephews. Len, as he was known, was born in Braddock, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Dora (Klein) Greenwald and brother of the late Arthur Greenwald, Gerald Greenwald, Ruth Greenwald, Florence Gessner, and Rose Mallinger. He graduated from Donora High School and attended the University of Michigan for his freshman year before enlisting into the United States Army in World War II, where he served in the Timberwolves, the 104th Infantry Division, in France and Germany. He was twice the National President of the Timberwolves that met annually for sixty-five years. As President at the fifteenth reunion held in Washington, DC, he had the distinct honor of laying the wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Len returned to Pittsburgh where he completed studies for his bachelor’s degree in two years at the University of Pittsburgh and continued on to study at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law, graduating in 1950. He practiced law for forty years in a private practice with his late brother Gerald and as an associate of Morris Goldstein, Esquire, with offices in Braddock, the Monroeville Mall office complex, and the Frick Building in downtown Pittsburgh. As a member of the Braddock Rotary Club, he served as President and later as an active member of the Monroeville Rotary Club. For many years, he served on the Board of Directors of Braddock General Hospital and on the Executive Committee for the Boys Scouts, as well as many other community organizations. During his retirement in Florida, Len was an avid reader and traveled extensively with his wife, Roselie. He was well-known to his colleagues, family, and friends for his witty sense of humor and his uncanny ability to make people laugh. Graveside Services and Interment were held at Poale Zedeck Memorial Park.
