Hirsh leaves NCJW-Pittsburgh

Jodi Hirsh, executive director of the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section, will resign from her post at the end of the month.
Hirsh, who has served as the group’s executive director since February 2010, is leaving the NCJW in order to provide consulting services for various “progressive organizations and causes,” she said.
Her first project will be in conjunction with an initiative she spearheaded while serving as NCJW executive director: a partnership between NCJW and Gwen’s Girls, “a local organization that does gender-specific work for at-risk girls, specifically in and out of foster care,” Hirsh said.
The NCJW/Gwen’s Girls initiative will help provide a “safety net” for young women recently emancipated from foster care who need help getting on their feet. Services to be provided will include instructional programs on life skills, such as how to open a checking account, budgeting and safe sex, according to Hirsh.
“I have been working in the nonprofit world for 15 years,” Hirsh said. “I now want to work on a project-by-project basis. Gwen’s Girls can now get more of my attention.”
Hirsh will also be working with the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the umbrella organization for all Planned Parenthood branches.
Hilary Spatz, president of NCJW’s board, is assembling a committee to conduct a national search for a new executive director.
