Hillel field trip

Hillel Academy’s 11th- and 12th-grade girls visited Hillel parent Dr. Kara Bernstein’s lab at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, where Bernstein presented information on careers in science and invited the students to engage in some activities to give them an idea of what lab work is like.

Students worked in small groups to prepare yeast samples, move material from one container to another using specialized equipment and look at cells under different microscopes. The visit was exciting and inspiring.
