title: Gene Kelly’s Beth Shalom History
description: Before he revived the movie musical with An American in Paris and Singin’ in the Rain, Gene Kelly worked as a dance instructor for Beth Shalom Congregation. The congregation paid Kelly $15 a week to teach dance classes for children on Sunday afternoons and to prepare for an annual springtime dance festival.

Join Rauh Jewish History Program & Archives Director Eric Lidji as he reveals this unexpected historical connection through rare photographs and documents. This event is free and open to the public.
