DESCRIPTION:SHARP Dance Company\, a Philadelphia-based modern dance company\, will be performing a benefit show for the victims of the Tree of Life synagogue building shooting beginning at 8:00 p.m. at The Hillman Center for the Performing Arts\, 423 Fox Chapel Road. “Spreading Love Conquering Hate” will consist of several exciting dance pieces including the 2018 collaborative dance project “Puzzle” co-choreographed by Joe Cotler (Koresh Dance Company Member) and Diane Sharp-Nachsin (Artist Director of SHARP) and “669” which was inspired by the story of Sir Nicholas Winton\, a man who saved 669 children from the Holocaust. A commemoration to honor the memory of Jerry Rabinowitz\, z”l\, a longtime member of NCCK\, will be observed. To conclude the program\, Rabbi Me’irah will honor NCCK by presenting its members with her painting\, The Tree of LIfe is Weeping.  The painting will be housed on a rotation basis in the homes of members.

DESCRIPTION:An Evening of Holocaust Education and Remembrance\ndescription: In commemoration of the Tree of Life Synagogue\, Shaler Area High School students are hosting an evening of Holocaust remembrance and education.  In the library and LIGHT Center (Center for Leadership through Innovation in Genocide and Human rights Teaching)\, survivor Shulamit Bastacky\, students\, and leaders from the SNHL and Millvale libraries will decorate butterflies in remembrance of child victims of the Holocaust and read stories of empathy and tolerance.  In the lobby\, Classrooms Without Borders and the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh will display exhibits on the Wannsee Conference and CHUTZ-POW!\, and students will collect donations for the Tree of Life Synagogue while educating the public about classroom projects focused on the Holocaust\, genocide\, and human rights.  In the auditorium\, students and community members will hear from survivor and author Yolanda Avram-Willis\, generations speaker Lynne Ravas\, Shaler Area alumnus and former refugee Iris Matijevic\, and Klezmer violin specialist Christopher Sforza\, along with student performances of art and music.
